There is no social activity which was so dependent on information sources as scientific research. Information sources in science have a twofold purpose:

  1. They are the basis of scientific information and communication.
  2. They play a key role in systems of evaluation of scientific quality and visibility.

Evaluation has become an important task for all stakeholders in the process of scientific research activities and research policy. In Slovenia, this is done by using systems SICRIS and COBISS.
We will speak about the various analysis and comparisons that can be made on the basis of these data and data from international bibliographic databases.

  • Comparison of expert ratings and bibliometric indicators in the selection projects for funding.
  • Comparison of WoS and SCOPUS.
  • Comparison of different criteria, based on citations data (JIF, SNIP, SJR, H-index)
